The Penguin series managed to attract a large audience in its first weekend. Streaming platform Max said the series had the largest audience worldwide for a new series in its first four days. Here are the details…
The Penguin reached a record number of viewers!
According to Deadline, Max reported that the new series starring Colin Farrell averaged 5.3 million multi-platform viewers in the US during its 4-day debut. The Penguin first appeared on HBO’s streaming platform Max before airing on the TV channel on Sunday night. It should be noted that the series is broadcast on BluTV in Turkey.
HBO also confirmed that The Penguin achieved the highest four-day ratings for a new series on Max in any region worldwide. This record previously belonged to the 2023 premiere of The Last of Us.
These numbers put the first episode of the series above the fourth and final season premiere of Succession (4.9 million viewers) and the second season premiere of The White Lotus (4.1 million viewers). The DC series was behind the fourth season of True Detective: Night Country’s fourth season, which reached 5.7 million viewers.
The miniseries also led to an increase in subscriber demand for The Batman on the Max platform. Max reported that the 2022 film starring Robert Pattinson reached 3.5 times more accounts compared to the weeks prior to the release of The Penguin. The series picks up a week after the end of the Reeves-directed film and follows Oswald ‘Oz’ Cobb’s (The Penguin) rise to power in Gotham City.
